The Heart of Taziki’s: Hospitality
Without hospitality, there would be no Taziki’s.
Our founder, Keith Richards, went on a trip with his wife to Greece in 1997. A “big-hearted foodie,” Keith was intent on finding delicious food and immersing himself in Grecian culture.
While on the island of Kos, they found a small Greek cafe empty, but he saw a whole lamb cooking on a spit. He told Amy, “We have to go try that place.”
The owners of the café, a Greek couple, couldn’t speak a word of English. But they took Keith and Amy in, cared for them, cooked for them, and introduced them to their son. After getting to know them, Keith was overcome by a desire to bring this lifestyle back to his hometown of Birmingham, AL. He said, “This is what I want to do. This is who I want to be.”
So, the following year he opened Taziki's Greek Fare and set out to do just that. Treat customers as family, and serve them fresh, delicious, healthy food. 27 years later, we do that every single day.
The hospitality of that original Greek café has shaped Taziki’s mission since its inception, and shapes it to this day. So now, as a franchisor, Taziki’s treats its partners with the same level of hospitality that it expects them to show their guests.
