Last month, Taziki’s employees went into a local high school entrepreneurship class with a mission. Create or modify a product to encourage more Gen Z customers to visit Taziki’s. They came back with some great ideas, but a few that stood out centered around protein.
The students recommended partnering with national gym brands to promote Taziki’s protein options. One recommended offering a double portion coupon that came with the gym’s membership as a perk.
Protein as a High-value Offering
Consumers are shifting towards high protein options, and the numbers back it up. A survey of Americans done by Empower states that “42% regularly upgrade with “double protein” options (57% younger generations). 36% pay extra at restaurants or fast-casual spots to boost protein in their meals (49% younger consumers).”
As Americans shift towards higher protein diets, Taziki’s stands poised to capitalize. With 11 different protein options and the ability to order additional proteins separately (to “upgrade” one’s order), Taziki’s is positioned perfectly to take care of this new generation of customers.
Another emerging segment of customers searching for high-protein options are GLP-1 users. According to Princeton Sports and Family Medicine, “Protein should not be treated like an afterthought. It should be one of the anchors of the plan.” GLP-1 users typically experience the symptom of reduced appetite. “If patients are eating less overall, then the quality of what they do eat matters even more.”
Princeton Sports and Family Medicine even recommends to “build meals around a protein source first.”

Protein is becoming a driver of people’s dining choices. From vegetarian falafel to lean options chicken breast and salmon to heartier options beef and lamb, Taziki’s provides strong, high-quality protein options that fit a variety of dietary needs and requirements.
Taziki’s is poised to serve both growing demographics, the younger customer with growing protein needs and the GLP-1 who’s basing their meal on their choice protein.
